Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Anical app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by freeweb (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

Information Collection and Use

The Application uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google AdMob for advertising delivery and usage analytics, and may automatically collect certain user information. The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include:

• Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address)
• The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages
• The time spent on the Application
• The operating system you use on your mobile device
• Advertising identifiers used for ad delivery purposes

Location Information

The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device.

Information Stored on Your Device

The Application stores the following information in the device's local storage. This information is never transmitted to any external server:

• Watchlist data — Titles of registered anime, watch status, notes, and date added
• App settings — Theme, calendar view format, language preference, and other settings
• Search history — Recent search keywords (up to 10 entries)
• Language preference — Japanese or English selection

External API Communication

The Application uses the Jikan API (api.jikan.moe) to retrieve anime information. This API is an unofficial public API for accessing MyAnimeList data and does not require authentication. The following information is sent during searches:

• Search keywords (text)
• Anime IDs (numeric values)
• Filter parameters (genre, type, status, etc.)

No personal information, authentication credentials, or device identifiers are sent to the API.

Third Party Access

The Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policies about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:

• Google Analytics 4 — Usage analytics. Used to collect and analyze access data for app improvement.
• Google AdMob — In-app advertising. Used to display ads using advertising identifiers for targeting.
• Jikan API — Anime information retrieval. Accesses the MyAnimeList public database (no authentication required).

The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

• as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
• when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
• with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

Advertising

The Application uses Google AdMob to serve advertisements. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers for ad personalization and performance measurement. To opt out of personalized advertising, you can disable ad tracking in your device settings:

• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization

Data Retention Policy

The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter.

• On-device data (watchlist, settings, search history): Retained on your device while the app is installed and until uninstallation. You can clear all on-device data at any time by selecting "Delete All Data" in the Settings screen within the app.
• GA4 analytics data: Managed according to Google's data retention policy. See Google Analytics Data Retention for details.
• AdMob advertising data: Managed according to the Google AdMob privacy policy.

If you'd like the Service Provider to delete User Provided Data that you have provided via the Application, please contact them at eerf0309+anical@gmail.com and they will respond in a reasonable time.

Your Rights

The Application respects the following rights regarding your data:

• Data deletion: You can immediately delete all on-device data (watchlist, settings, search history) by selecting "Delete All Data" in the Settings screen within the app.
• Information disclosure requests: If you wish to request disclosure of information collected through the Application, please contact us using the contact information below.
• Data deletion requests: If you wish to request deletion of data collected through external services (Google, etc.), please contact us using the contact information below. We will respond within a reasonable time.
• Stopping data collection: You can stop all data collection by the Application by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Children's Privacy

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discovers that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided personal information, please contact the Service Provider at eerf0309+anical@gmail.com so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

Your Consent

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
